Is Blogging Dead or Dying?
davewiner Now -- next topic -- is blogging dead? It's a question that's been coming up since 1998 or so. The answer is no. Next question. |
AllergyNotes Twitter works well for creating a searchable, "no login required" archive of notes. A bonus: You can use later it for blogging ideas. |
giustini omgosh, was interviewed about web 2.0...what it is, exactly? I said, somewhat sheepishly, that "web 2.0 brings together people...over ideas" |
AllergyNotes It does not look very professional when the first Google result for your name is your Facebook page... It's 2009. Start a blog at least? |
Will Twitter Replace Blogs?
AllergyNotes @Scobleizer Q "I invested a lot of time this year in FriendFeed and Twitter instead of my blog. Was that the right decision? A: Probably not |
AllergyNotes @kevinmd switches to longer blog posts from his previous style of mostly links and one-liners. Good decision. http://www.kevinmd.com/blog/ |
AllergyNotes Links and one-liners are for Twitter not for blogs. |
AllergyNotes Also, I don't think Twitter will replace blogs or is the next step in the evolution of blog form. |
AllergyNotes See here the opposite view = "blogs are old school and static, go Twitter!" http://tinyurl.com/5hyn5o |
AllergyNotes And, no, Twitter will not replace your RSS reader either: http://tinyurl.com/6x4cab |
AllergyNotes @giustini "I think we need micromedia (Twitter) and macromedia (bloggers) to stay informed; blogging is not dead" - Dean got it right again. |

Twitter and blogs now seem to feed off each other. Twitter allows the quick spread of information often with a link to the blog. It gives wider exposure to the blog but also gives twitterers quick access to a far wider range of ideas and opinions than ever before. This results in new blog posts that then start the cycle again

Twitter will replace blogs when movie previews replace movies as the preferred form of entertainment. You just can't get the full essence of an idea in 140 characters. You need the blog for that.
