"At the simplest level, a blog is just a gift exchange"

"At the simplest level, a blog is just a gift exchange. People you may never meet from countries you may never visit, show up at your blog and give you the most precious resource they temporarily have in their hands – time. Whether it’s 30 seconds or 3 minutes, they offer you something really special, minutes of their day that they will never get back.

In return, you give them something. You give them an idea. You give them a photo of a sunset you loved. You give them your analysis of a recent policy change in the government. You give them something that is important to you."

  1. Great sentiment Dr Ves
    Agree entirely
Love the amazing positive energy that writing a blog gives me. I am enthused by interaction and engagement generated by the blogosphere and that makes me want to give even more.
I feel honored that other people take the time to read what we write, and find the blog to be a fantastic platform to share our knowledge, thoughts, gripes, woes, troubles, hopes and fears...and when I do...I feel a huge weight lifted from my shoulders.

  2. Thank you for the wonderful comment, Mike. In fact, this is one of the examples of a blog comment being being better than the blog post itself... :)

There are different motivations for blogging. Your summary shows the driving force behind the best efforts.
