Eric Topol: The wireless future of medicine (TED Talks)
Eric Topol says we'll soon use our smartphones to monitor our vital signs and chronic conditions. At TEDMED, he highlights several of the most important wireless devices in medicine's future -- all helping to keep more of us out of hospital beds.
I saw the video, but it's too much tech-stuff. Let's face it: we're all supposed to practice EBM. These are tools, but they first have to prove that they're better and even more cost-effective. Nice toys, but I think it will take much longer. And saying that by 2016 stethoscopes won't be used anymore, sounds like somebody who is looking for fame, not reality. I was a little disappointed by the video... Let's talk less sci-fi and come back to earth. Then we can use IT to change / improve healthcare.
