Nobody Wanted To Buy Google Then...

In 1998, the Google founders gave demonstrations of their search engine to nearly every search company in the Silicon Valley, from Yahoo to Infoseek, over the course of 18 months. Nobody was interested...

The things could not be more different now. Most of the companies that did not want to buy Google then were put out of business by the very same engine they refused to buy. If they only knew... "They wanted to be portals", Larry Page says, "they were not interested in search...but they did have horoscopes, though..." Not much help from the horoscopes, I guess.
